Uwajimaya has been the Pacific Northwest's great Asian marketplace since 1928, when Fujimatsu Moriguchi began selling housemade fishcakes from a truck. Today its Chinatown-International District flagship is a destination in its own right — tens of thousands of Asian groceries, a seafood counter, a food court, and the Kinokuniya bookstore under one roof.
Four generations of the Moriguchi family have built it into a Seattle landmark and cultural anchor — the 2025 Centurion Award winner for Best Market.
