Schilo's Delicatessen
Best Deli in San Antonio · TX
Split pea soup and homemade root beer since 1917.
Schilo's Delicatessen is the oldest restaurant in San Antonio, serving German-Texan food downtown since 1917, when the Alsatian-immigrant Schilo family set up near the River Walk. Its split-pea soup, house-made root beer and Reuben are why regulars have come back for a century, past long communal tables and the occasional accordion.
A downtown landmark for over 100 years, Schilo's is the 2025 Centurion Award winner for Best Deli in San Antonio.
