Alexander Michael's has been the neighborhood tavern of Charlotte's historic Fourth Ward since 1983, set in a restored 1897 corner store with pressed-tin ceilings and worn wood floors. Regulars call it "Al Mike's," and its burgers, cold beer and unpretentious warmth have made it a downtown fixture.
One of the last old-Charlotte holdouts amid the high-rises, it's the 2025 Centurion Award winner in Charlotte.
